Barau FC has officially adopted the newly reconstructed Maliya Stadium in Dambatta as their home ground for the 2024-25 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. This announcement was confirmed by Hassan Abdullahi Garo, a representative from the Kano State Football Association, who shared the news with the media on Saturday.
Garo expressed his satisfaction, confirming that Barau FC has met all the necessary requirements set by the NNL to use the stadium for their matches. He highlighted the significant upgrades made to the facility, which include a fully completed playing field, ready dressing rooms, a security post, media gallery, medical rooms, restrooms, parking lots, and well-maintained pavilions.
He went on to emphasize the importance of the stadium’s construction, noting that it was made possible by the efforts of the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jubrin. Garo also shared the excitement of local football fans, revealing that many of them have already begun visiting the stadium regularly, eager to take photographs and show their support. He mentioned that these fans are eagerly anticipating the start of the NNL season, with hopes to witness top-tier football in their region.
According to Garo, the stadium’s state-of-the-art facilities have made it clear that Barau FC’s home matches will be held in Dambatta. He also explained how the stadium will serve as a catalyst for the decentralization of football in Kano, offering residents of the Kano North district the opportunity to experience the economic, social, and cultural benefits of hosting major football events. The move, Garo added, will not only boost local pride but will also contribute to the promotion and development of football in the area by bringing high-level NNL competition to the region.
