Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has called on President Bola Tinubu to take urgent and diplomatic measures to address Nigeria’s security challenges.
Speaking during the November Holy Ghost Service on Friday, Adeboye responded to recent warnings from US President Donald Trump, recommending a 90-day deadline for security chiefs to dismantle terrorist groups or face dismissal.
He also advised President Tinubu to engage diplomatically with the United States to secure a 100-day grace period before any potential international action.
“Let the government use diplomatic channels to convince President Trump to grant 100 days. Our service chiefs, being new, should achieve results within three months or step down,” Adeboye said.
The cleric stressed the need to identify and hold accountable sponsors of terrorism and insurgency, regardless of their influence. He warned that in the event of a US attack, no foreign power—including China or Russia—would intervene on Nigeria’s behalf.
“When issuing directives to our service chiefs, it should be clear they are to eliminate both terrorists and their sponsors, no matter their status. If America attacks, the so-called world powers will condemn the action but will not come to our aid,” he said.
Adeboye emphasized that this is a time for decisive action, not debate or rhetoric. “People are dying. Innocent lives are being lost. This is not a time for jokes, arguments, or semantics,” he added.
Drawing from his experience with previous administrations, including that of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Adeboye noted that past efforts to tackle terrorism were not sustained. “This problem predates the current administration. The focus now must be on practical action, not assigning blame,” he said.
Recalling his previous advice to former leaders, Adeboye urged current officials to follow through on directives promptly and effectively, warning against delays in confronting security threats.
