Oborevwori Deepening Infrastructure, Energy Development in Delta — Aniagwu

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, says the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is deepening infrastructure development and expanding energy access to accelerate economic growth and improve living standards across the state.

Speaking on The Morning Show on ARISE News, Aniagwu said Delta’s significant contributions to national revenue, particularly from its oil-producing areas, justify the level of federal allocation it receives.

“Delta contributes significantly to the federal purse, and to whom much is given, much is expected,” he said. “We have secured our coastal communities and created an enabling environment for oil production, which explains our share of federal revenue.”

He noted that the Oborevwori administration has elevated infrastructure development “to a much higher level,” with projects covering all 25 local government areas, including roads, hospitals, and schools.

“Beyond construction, these projects serve as safety nets for our people — injecting funds into the local economy while transforming the outlook of our communities,” Aniagwu stated.

Addressing concerns over power supply in Ndokwa nation, he clarified that only the Kwale axis was affected, adding that the state is extending a 33KV line from Abraka through Ogume to Kwale to improve electricity access.

Aniagwu also announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kwale Free Trade Zone would hold on Tuesday, noting that several companies had already begun building facilities on the 1,000-hectare site.

“The Free Trade Zone is a game changer. It will attract industries, create jobs, and reduce gas flaring through investments in gas processing,” he said.

On the Kwale Independent Power Project (IPP), Aniagwu explained that the facility feeds into the national grid, making direct state distribution impossible without federal collaboration. However, he said the project remains vital to powering homes and businesses and promoting local enterprise.

He attributed the state’s development momentum to Governor Oborevwori’s harmonious relationship with the Delta State House of Assembly, saying the synergy had ensured equitable infrastructure distribution and prudent financial management.

“Because the governor was once Speaker, he understands the legislature and works collaboratively with all arms of government,” he added.

Aniagwu reaffirmed that the Oborevwori administration remains committed to sustainable infrastructure, industrial growth, and improving the quality of life for all Deltans.
