
The Super Eagles are in full preparation for their crucial CAF World Cup 2026 Play-Off semi-final against Gabon, with the team’s camp in Rabat alive with activity as players and officials arrive ahead of Thursday’s match.
Coach Eric Sékou Chelle and his technical team welcomed the squad to the Rive Hotel, where the team is preparing for the Four-Nation African Play-Off. Early arrivals included Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze, and Tolu Arokodare, soon joined by Turkey-based stars Wilfred Ndidi and Olakunle Olusegun. Later arrivals included Moses Simon, team captain William Troost-Ekong, and defenders Benjamin Fredericks and Chidozie Awaziem.
An NFF official confirmed that most of the remaining players are expected to join the squad today, allowing the team to kick off training sessions. The first training is scheduled for Monday evening, followed by an official session at the match venue on Wednesday.
In the other semi-final, Cameroon will take on the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the winners from both matches set to contest Africa’s single spot in the Intercontinental Playoffs in Mexico next year. The decisive matches will take place at the Complexe Sportif Prince Heritier Moulay Al Hassan on Sunday evening.
The assembled squad currently includes: Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, William Troost-Ekong, Benjamin Fredericks, and Chidozie Awaziem.
The Super Eagles’ camp in Rabat is now fully energized as preparations intensify ahead of the high-stakes play-off clash.
