Gombe State Executive Council has approved the construction of a new Deputy Governor’s Office at N1.3 billion and a modern Fire Service Headquarters valued at N1.2 billion, as part of efforts to enhance administrative efficiency and emergency response across the state.
The approvals were made during the 50th State Executive Council meeting on Monday at Gombe Arena, presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Announcing the decisions, Commissioner for Works and Transport, Usman Kallamu, said the new Deputy Governor’s Office would be strategically located adjacent to the Government House at the Old Gombe Jewel Suites site to improve coordination and communication between the governor’s and deputy governor’s offices.
“At present, the Deputy Governor’s Office is situated far from the Government House, which affects administrative synergy. The council has approved N1,337,885,743.75 for the construction of a new office complex to address this,” Kallamu stated.
He further disclosed that the council approved N1.3 billion for the completion of five mega secondary schools across the state, highlighting the Yahaya administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education.
To bolster emergency services, the council approved N1,275,236,520 for the construction of a modern Gombe State Fire Service Headquarters. The facility will serve as a centralized and well-equipped base for fire and rescue operations, ending years of reliance on temporary offices.
“This project will improve operational efficiency of fire personnel and enhance protection for lives, property, and critical infrastructure across Gombe,” Kallamu added.
Additionally, the council ratified N461.8 million for a new Divisional Police Station in Shehu Abubakar District, designed to meet modern policing and urban development standards.
Governor Yahaya’s administration has consistently prioritized capital investment and citizen-focused governance. The state’s 2024 budget of N208.06 billion allocated 58% to capital projects and 42% to recurrent expenditure, reflecting an infrastructure-driven development strategy.
The latest approvals are part of Gombe State’s ongoing plan to upgrade public infrastructure, improve service delivery, and position the state as one of the most administratively efficient and disaster-ready states in northern Nigeria.
