Allison Mack Opens Up After Prison Release
Former Smallville actress Allison Mack, 43, spoke publicly for the first time since her 2023 release from federal prison, discussing her involvement in the notorious NXIVM cult. The interview aired on the podcast Allison After NXIVM, produced by CBC’s Uncover, which premiered on November 10, 2025.
In the interview, Mack reflected on her sentencing day in New York City in 2021 and expressed deep remorse:
“Oh, my God, my poor brother behind me, having to hear this about his sister. My poor mom. I’m so sorry, you guys. I can take it, but like… I’m so sorry. I don’t see myself as innocent, and they were.”
Her Role in NXIVM and Accountability
Mack, who was a prominent leader within NXIVM, pleaded guilty to charges including racketeering and conspiracy, and was sentenced to three years in federal prison. During her interview, she acknowledged how she used her fame to advance the group’s agenda:
“I think that I capitalized on the things I had — and so the success I had as an actor, I think I did capitalize on that,” Mack admitted.
She also described her effectiveness in furthering Keith Raniere’s vision, the NXIVM founder who orchestrated the group’s coercive and abusive activities.
Background: NXIVM and Legal Proceedings
Mack was first arrested on April 20, 2018, accused of recruiting women into a secret subgroup called DOS, in which women were allegedly forced into sexual servitude under Raniere.
Raniere, 65, was convicted in 2019 of sex trafficking, racketeering, and fraud, and is serving a 120-year prison sentence. Mack served her time at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, and was released under the First Step Act (FSA), a law allowing inmates to earn “good conduct” credit toward sentence reduction.
Personal Life After NXIVM
Following her prison release, Mack’s personal life has seen significant changes. She divorced her wife, actress Nicki Clyne, in 2020; the marriage had been arranged at the behest of NXIVM co-founder Raniere.
In June 2025, Mack remarried a man named Frank in Los Angeles. According to reports, the couple met shortly after her release at a dog park and became engaged around Christmas 2024.
Reflections on Her Past and Moving Forward
In her interview, Mack confronted her role in the NXIVM scandal directly, stating she does not view herself as innocent. She also recalled the judge criticizing her as “callous” at sentencing for appearing to laugh at others’ suffering and for leading people in “negative directions.”
Mack’s remarks reflect an ongoing attempt to process her past actions while navigating life after incarceration, offering rare insight into the mind of a former high-profile cult member.
