Bus Tyre Burst Sparks Panic in Delhi’s Mahipalpur Amid Red Fort Blast Anxiety

November 13, 2025

Residents of southwest Delhi’s Mahipalpur area were startled on Thursday morning after a loud “blast-like” sound caused panic, coming just days after the deadly Red Fort explosion that left the city on edge.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, a call was received at 9:19 am reporting a suspected blast near the Radisson Hotel in Mahipalpur. Three fire tenders were immediately dispatched, but after a thorough check, no suspicious object or activity was found.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel said that the noise was later determined to be caused by the rear tyre of a DTC bus bursting while en route to Dhaula Kuan. “The caller was contacted and informed that a loud noise was heard while he was traveling to Gurugram. We checked everything and nothing was found,” he added. Authorities reassured the public that the situation was normal and there was no cause for concern.

The incident comes amid heightened anxiety following the November 10 Red Fort blast, which claimed at least 10 lives and injured more than 20 others. Security has been significantly stepped up across the capital, and investigators are treating the explosion as a confirmed terror incident.

Latest on the Red Fort blast
Delhi Police confirmed through preliminary DNA analysis that the blast was executed by Dr Umar Un Nabi, a 35-year-old resident of Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, employed as an assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad. DNA samples collected from a severed leg trapped between the car’s accelerator and steering wheel matched Nabi, with further confirmation pending.

Nabi was allegedly associated with Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie and Dr Adeel Rather, both arrested in Jammu and Kashmir last week for stockpiling over 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate, detonators, timers, and assault rifles in Faridabad. Security agencies are actively working to trace and apprehend the remaining members of the module believed to have orchestrated the Red Fort blast.

The Mahipalpur incident underscores the tense atmosphere in Delhi, where residents remain vigilant and alert for any unusual activity in the aftermath of the terror attack.
