Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is prioritizing his recovery from injury despite ongoing reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold’s Injury and Recovery
The 26-year-old full-back, who is out of contract at the end of the season, missed England’s World Cup qualifiers due to an ankle injury sustained in Liverpool’s Champions League defeat to PSG.
Speaking on the situation, Liverpool manager Arne Slot emphasized that Alexander-Arnold is fully committed to his rehabilitation.
“Unfortunately, Trent is injured. Otherwise, people would be talking about his brilliant performances for England. Right now, his only focus is recovery, and we are doing everything to get him back as soon as possible.”
Real Madrid Transfer Talks
According to BBC Sport, Alexander-Arnold is in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid over a free transfer to the Bernabéu when his contract expires.
He is one of three high-profile Liverpool players yet to sign new deals, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. While Salah previously stated that an agreement was “far away,” Van Dijk admitted he had “no idea” about his future.
Liverpool’s Title Race Continues
Despite these uncertainties, Liverpool remains dominant in the Premier League, sitting 12 points clear at the top with just nine games remaining.
Next up, Liverpool faces Everton at Anfield on Wednesday (20:00 BST) in a highly anticipated Merseyside derby.
