
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally written to the House of Representatives, urging lawmakers to pass a bill establishing a National Cocoa Management Board.
The communication was read during plenary by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, who explained that the proposed Executive Bill is being transmitted in accordance with Section 58(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The National Cocoa Management Board Establishment Bill 2025 aims to regulate, promote, and harmonize cocoa-related activities across Nigeria. According to President Tinubu, the establishment of the Board will:
- Coordinate the cocoa value chain more effectively,
- Improve standards in production and processing, and
- Strengthen Nigeria’s participation in the global cocoa economy.
The President urged the House of Representatives to expedite consideration and passage of the bill to support the growth and modernization of Nigeria’s cocoa industry.
