First Trailer for Michael Biopic Reveals Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson

Fans of the King of Pop are getting their first glimpse of the highly anticipated Michael biopic, with the teaser trailer debuting on November 6, 2025. Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the late music icon, stars as Michael Jackson, capturing both his legendary stage presence and iconic vocal performances.


Jaafar Jackson Channels the King of Pop

In the teaser, Jaafar dons Michael’s signature wide-brimmed hats and flashy costumes, performing some of the choreography that helped cement his uncle as one of the greatest entertainers in history. Director Antoine Fuqua emphasized the natural connection between Jaafar and the role:

“There was such a spiritual connection when I first met Jaafar, who has a natural ability to emulate Michael and such a great chemistry with the camera,” Fuqua told Variety.

The film also highlights Michael’s personal life, offering audiences an intimate look behind the stage. According to the synopsis, Michael showcases both his rise as a performer and key moments from his early solo career.

Michael features a talented ensemble:

  • Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Michael’s father and manager
  • Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother
  • Kat Graham as Motown star Diana Ross
  • Miles Teller as Michael’s lawyer and manager John Branca
  • Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael Jackson

Domingo, fresh off his Oscar nomination for Rustin, reflected on portraying Joe Jackson:

“I want to find their humanity, their heart and humor. It may go against public opinion sometimes, but it’s my responsibility to explore the complex version of these people,” he told PEOPLE.


Behind the Film

Produced in part by Graham King, who also produced Bohemian Rhapsody, Michael aims to capture the full scale of Jackson’s extraordinary career while offering an authentic depiction of the personal challenges he faced. Teller praised the biopic’s accuracy, noting his opportunity to meet the real John Branca:

“Michael is one of the greatest to ever do it, if not the greatest. … He deserves a movie, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”


Release Date

The Michael biopic is set to hit theaters on April 24, 2026, giving fans a chance to experience the music, the moves, and the man behind the legend on the big screen.
