Patna | November 13, 2025 – On the eve of the Bihar assembly election results, the political atmosphere in the state has been charged with anticipation, theatrics, and symbolism. With counting scheduled for November 14, rival camps have begun putting up posters reflecting both confidence and political messaging, signaling their expectations and staking claims ahead of the results.
In Patna, a striking poster appeared outside the Janata Dal (United) office, featuring Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumaralongside the bold message: “Tiger abhi zinda hai” (“The Tiger is still alive”). The poster, reportedly dedicated by former Bihar Minister Ranjit Sinha, emphasizes Kumar’s enduring authority and influence in the state, reinforcing his leadership credentials ahead of what could mark a historic tenure.
The poster depicts Nitish Kumar as a protector of all communities, highlighting his support base among backward classes, lower castes, and women, while portraying him as a stabilizing figure in Bihar politics. Observers note that the imagery and messaging reflect JD(U)’s desire to see Kumar continue as Chief Minister, potentially for a record tenth term.
Political Counters and Mockery
Politics, however, is never one-sided. In a direct jab, another poster surfaced outside the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) office, displaying Nitish Kumar with the words “Alvida Chacha” (“Goodbye Uncle”). Reports suggest this poster was put up by the Samajwadi Party, mocking the JD(U) chief and questioning his continued relevance in Bihar’s political landscape.
This political banter is rooted in ongoing debates over leadership and control. Opposition leaders, particularly Tejashwi Yadav of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, have repeatedly claimed that Nitish Kumar’s authority is diminished, alleging that key decisions in JD(U) are influenced by BJP leaders rather than Kumar himself. On October 15, Tejashwi alleged that JD(U) was “controlled by leaders brought by the BJP,” signaling a challenge to Kumar’s independent stature.
NDA Leaders Reaffirm Nitish Kumar’s Leadership
To counter such narratives, senior leaders of the NDA, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have publicly reaffirmed Kumar as the NDA’s chief ministerial face. Dharmendra Pradhan, Bihar BJP in-charge, also reiterated that there is no ambiguity regarding Kumar’s position. Speaking to ANI, Pradhan said, “Prime Minister has been very clear. We do not have a vacancy. The name is Nitish Kumar. Where is the confusion?”
These statements were aimed at quelling speculation and reinforcing unity within the NDA camp ahead of the results, signaling that Kumar remains central to the coalition’s plans in Bihar. The leadership messaging is strategically timed to project stability and continuity, contrasting with the opposition’s claims of JD(U) losing control.
Exit Polls and Political Sentiment
As votes were counted in two phases on November 6 and 11, exit polls largely indicated a comfortable win for the NDA, further emboldening JD(U) and its allies to showcase confidence in public messaging. Posters like “Tiger abhi zinda hai” are symbolic of this sentiment, conveying both to the electorate and rival parties that Nitish Kumar’s political journey remains strong.
Despite exit polls favoring the NDA, opposition parties have remained vocal, pointing to intra-party challenges and questioning leadership dynamics. RJD, in particular, has sought to frame the narrative around Kumar’s alleged diminished control and the influence of BJP leaders within JD(U). The display of contrasting posters in the capital reflects the dueling narratives shaping the final hours before the result declaration.
Counting Day Looms
With just a day remaining for the results, Bihar is set for a tense political showdown. The NDA is preparing for celebratory events in anticipation of victory, while the Mahagathbandhan and other opposition groups are keeping their messaging sharp, aiming to challenge Kumar’s dominance and question the NDA’s claims.
Political analysts note that Bihar’s electoral landscape has historically been shaped by symbolism and visual messaging, with posters, rallies, and media narratives playing a crucial role in shaping public perception. The “Tiger abhi zinda hai” poster is consistent with this tradition, combining imagery, slogans, and historical sentiment to project resilience and continuity.
A State on Edge
Patna’s streets, offices, and public spaces now reflect the heightened political energy. Every poster, every slogan, and every public statement is under scrutiny as parties attempt to influence sentiment and consolidate support ahead of November 14. The stage is set for what could be a historic announcement in Bihar’s political history, with Nitish Kumar seeking to cement his legacy while opponents strategize to reshape the narrative.
As the state waits for the results, one thing is clear: the battle for perception has already begun, and in this contest, symbolism, messaging, and leadership assertions may prove just as significant as the vote count itself.
