WAEC bans 13 schools and 14 supervisors in Kogi over suspected examination malpractices.

Thirteen schools and 14 supervisors in Kogi State have been officially blacklisted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) following allegations of involvement in examination malpractices. This development was revealed by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, during a meeting in Lokoja with principals and supervisors who were implicated in the misconduct.

In his address, Commissioner Jones made it clear that any principal, teacher, or supervisor found aiding or abetting examination malpractices will face prosecution under the Kogi State Education Law and Other Matters Connected Therewith, 2020. He emphasized that examination malpractice is a serious criminal offense and stressed that offenders would be treated accordingly under the law.

Furthermore, Jones announced the formation of an investigative committee, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, to examine the actions of those indicted by WAEC. He assured that anyone found guilty would face legal consequences in court.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to improving education, the Commissioner reiterated that the Kogi State Government has made significant investments in the education sector and will no longer tolerate the actions of a few individuals undermining the progress that has been made. He declared that those involved in promoting examination malpractices are detrimental to the state’s educational system and will be expelled from it.

Dr. Jibrin Seidu Alhaji, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, also spoke at the meeting, urging the principals and supervisors to avoid any actions that could tarnish the reputation of Kogi State.
