Thousands of travellers were stranded across Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Saturday due to the closure of major motor parks in the city, including those at Iwo Road, New Ife Road, Ojoo, and Challenge. It was gathered that the shutdown was linked to the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention taking place in Ibadan, making it difficult for vehicles to pick up or drop passengers.
Commuters and drivers reported significant disruptions, with many travellers forced to trek long distances outside the city to find alternative transportation to Lagos and other major towns.
A driver explained, “It will be difficult to load or offload passengers today. All the parks in Ibadan have been shut. Even not only in Ibadan, all the parks in Oyo State. It is a statewide thing. No work today. You can see people trekking.”
The closure of the parks reflects the large-scale logistical measures taken to accommodate the PDP convention, which has drawn hundreds of delegates and party supporters from across the country.
