9mm Bullets Found Near Red Fort Blast Site Under Probe

Security agencies are closely examining three 9mm bullet cartridges—two live rounds and one empty shell—recovered from debris near the Red Fort blast site, officials said on Sunday.

The bullets were found near the burnt Hyundai i20 car that exploded on November 10 outside the historic Delhi monument, killing 13 people and injuring more than two dozen. The calibre of the bullets is not permitted for civilian use and is typically issued only to specialised units.

A source said staff deployed at the site were asked to verify their issued ammunition, but no rounds were found missing. “The cartridges were there, but there was no weapon to fire them. We are trying to understand how the bullets reached the spot,” the source said.

Reconstruction of Accused’s Movements

Investigators are recreating the movements of key accused Umar Nabi, tracing his route from Faridabad to Nuh in Haryana and then to Delhi, including a tea stop before the explosion.

Authorities are scrutinising:

  • Call detail records
  • Tower locations
  • CCTV footage from more than 50 cameras
  • All check-posts crossed
  • Parking entries
  • Contacts or possible accomplices

“This reconstruction is critical to understanding the hours Umar spent in the NCR,” the source added.

Financial & Chemical Trail Under Lens

The probe has widened to explore a suspected hawala trail, suggesting arrested doctors Muzammil and Shaheen may have received nearly ₹20 lakh from foreign handlers.

Evidence indicates:

  • Around ₹3 lakh was used to procure fertiliser
  • Funds may have supported chemical and logistical purchases
  • Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP), known as the “mother of satan”, is suspected to have been used
  • Components such as ammonium nitrate amplified the blast intensity

Focus on Al-Falah University

Security teams are examining links to Al-Falah University in Faridabad:

  • Attendance logs, staff records, and visitor movements are being checked
  • Several individuals linked to the accused are reportedly missing
  • A female doctor associated with the university has been detained for questioning

The Delhi Police have also registered two FIRs against the university for alleged cheating and forgery related to accreditation claims. A separate FIR under criminal conspiracy provisions is investigating the wider network behind the blast.

Vehicle Tracking at Sunehri Masjid Parking

Dozens of vehicles parked near Umar’s car in the three hours before the explosion are also being tracked. Investigators have prepared a detailed log noting:

  • Registration numbers
  • Entry and exit timings
  • Driver identities
  • Ownership details

Drivers and owners are being shown Umar’s photograph to determine whether he was alone and whether anyone else approached the vehicle.

A bomb-detection team remains stationed at the parking area as a precaution.
