As the Mahagathbandhan reels from its sweeping defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, internal tensions within Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family have escalated, with daughter Rohini Acharya dramatically announcing her exit from politics. Her allegations of being subjected to “filthy abuses” and humiliation have triggered a political storm — especially with several NDA leaders squarely blaming Tejashwi Yadav and his close aides for the turmoil.
NDA Slams Tejashwi, Says He “Failed His Own Family”
BJP leader and Bankipur MLA Nitin Nabin was among the first to react, claiming the crisis highlighted Tejashwi’s declining influence even within the Yadav household.
“Tejashwi has become so unpopular in his own family — how can he lead society?” Nabin said, accusing Lalu Yadav of creating a political dynasty whose internal collapse was now visible.
Bihar minister Ashok Chaudhary called the situation “unfortunate” and an “internal matter”, but acknowledged that it reflected poorly on the RJD at a critical moment.
Rohini’s Painful Exit Sparks Political Speculation
Rohini, who contested from Saran in the Lok Sabha polls last year, has alleged she faced humiliation, threats, and even attempts to make her a scapegoat for the party’s miserable performance. The RJD managed just 25 seats out of 243despite contesting over 140.
BJP MP Jagdambika Pal accused Tejashwi’s aide Sanjay Yadav of pushing responsibility onto Rohini:
“If Tejashwi’s sister was asked to take responsibility for the defeat, how painful must that be? If you cannot take care of your own family, how will you take care of society?”
BJP leader Dr Guru Prakash Paswan termed the developments a sign of “deep internal crisis” within the RJD.
“Nothing remains private in politics. First Tej Pratap, now Rohini — someone must take responsibility for the defeat,” he said, suggesting that the party is facing an “existential crisis”.
Silence from RJD Camp
The RJD and the Yadav family have not responded to Rohini’s allegations so far. Her posts, describing deep emotional distress and ostracisation, have drawn public sympathy and intensified scrutiny on Tejashwi’s leadership.
Backdrop: NDA’s Sweeping Victory
The feud comes amid high political activity in Bihar. The ruling NDA secured 202 seats, a three-fourths majority in the Assembly, while the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan suffered one of its worst electoral setbacks.
