Delhi HC Seeks Response from Priya Kapur on Karisma Kapoor’s Children’s Plea to Inspect Father’s Alleged Will

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has directed Priya Kapur, wife of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, to respond to a plea by Karisma Kapoor’s children seeking to inspect the original copy of their father’s alleged will. Joint Registrar Gagandeep Jindal issued notices to Priya Kapur and Shradha Suri Marwah, the executor of the purported will, asking them to file their replies within three weeks. The matter is now listed for December 16.

The application was filed by Samaira Kapur and her brother in a suit challenging the authenticity of Sunjay Kapur’s alleged will, reportedly worth ₹30,000 crore. The children have claimed that the will is forged, alleging that Priya Kapur colluded with the attesting witnesses to fabricate signatures.

Priya Kapur’s counsel, however, dismissed the claims as “bogus and baseless,” arguing that spelling errors in a will do not render it fake and maintaining that Sunjay Kapur’s signatures were genuine. After this argument, the plaintiffs filed a fresh application questioning the authenticity of the signature on the will. They argued that inspection of the original document is necessary to verify its genuineness, which cannot be ascertained from the certified copy already provided by the executor.

The court is also hearing an interim injunction application filed by Karisma Kapoor’s children to restrain Priya Kapur from alienating the assets of Sunjay Kapur. Arguments on this plea will continue on November 20.

In court filings, the children referred to Priya Kapur as a “Cinderella stepmother,” alleging that she has acted out of greed, focusing on her own interests at the expense of the children. Priya Kapur has previously informed the court that the children have already received ₹1,900 crore from the family trust.

The Delhi High Court has now asked for Priya Kapur’s response to the children’s request to inspect the original alleged will, marking the next step in the ongoing dispute over Sunjay Kapur’s estate.
