Kwara Governor Condemns Renewed Bandit Attack, Orders Heightened Security

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has called for urgent deployment of additional security operatives to the Eruku axis of Ekiti Local Government Area to curb a recent surge in bandit attacks.

According to a press statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaiye, the governor:

  • Condemned the unconscionable attacks, expressing sympathy for affected families and communities.
  • Directed that reinforced security measures be implemented immediately to support existing forces.
  • Affirmed the state government’s commitment to backing security agencies to protect lives and property.

Governor AbdulRazaq also commended President Bola Tinubu for deploying 900 additional troops to Kwara, noting that prior interventions have already brought relative calm to previously affected areas.

“We are confident that the additional troops will provide further deterrence, overall safety for our people, and permanent calm,” the statement said.

The governor’s call comes amid growing concerns over banditry and insecurity across the state, emphasizing urgent action and coordinated security responses.
