Falz Calls on Tinubu to Resign Over Insecurity, Cites 2014 Tweet

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana (Falz) has demanded the resignation of President Bola Tinubu, citing the recent abduction of 25 students in Kebbi State and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State.

Falz referenced a 2014 tweet by Tinubu, when he criticized then-President Goodluck Jonathan for failing to tackle insecurity, arguing that a leader unable to protect citizens should resign. Falz echoed Tinubu’s words, tweeting:

“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”

The original 2014 tweet was made seven months after the Chibok girls abduction, with Tinubu questioning why parts of the country were “under occupation” and asserting that Jonathan should resign in a civilized country. Tinubu had repeatedly criticized the Jonathan administration for lying about insecurity and failing to protect Nigerians.

Falz’s statement comes amid renewed concerns over banditry and attacks on schools, sparking public outrage over the government’s handling of security.
