
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a motorcyclist, Godonu Lowe, for allegedly murdering his wife and attempting to flee with her body hidden in a sack tied to his motorcycle. The arrest took place in the Ilaro area of the state during a stop-and-search operation on Wednesday.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the suspect was intercepted around 1:05 p.m. following a credible tip-off. The sack contained the body of Lowe’s wife, which showed marks of violence and bleeding around the neck. A blood-stained cutlass was also recovered at the scene.
Odutola stated:
“On Wednesday, 19th November 2025, at about 1305hrs, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro received information that Godonu Lowe of Omolende Village was transporting the corpse of an unknown woman on a motorcycle in an attempt to escape. Police operatives acted swiftly, intercepted the suspect, and discovered the body of an adult female, later identified as his wife, showing signs of foul play.”
The suspect has been taken into custody, and the victim’s body has been deposited at the State Morgue in Ilaro for preservation and autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the anonymous informant and urged the public to continue providing timely information to assist in crime prevention. He stressed that even minor suspicions reported to the police could save lives.
