The Labour Party has inaugurated a new leadership team for its Adamawa State Chapter, establishing a 14-member state caretaker committee to oversee party affairs.
The inauguration took place on Wednesday in Yola, where the Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, Bishop Esther Gulmu, urged the committee to operate strictly in line with the party constitution.
Beatrice Benjamin was appointed as chairman of the committee. In her acceptance speech, she promised a smooth and purposeful transition, describing the committee as “a child of necessity born to unite the party and set it on a progressive path.”
She added:
“We are here not to fight anyone but to build policy, promote advocacy, strengthen democracy, and ensure inclusivity. I cannot achieve this without your support and experience, and I will rely on both fully.”
The Labour Party in Adamawa has faced years of internal crises, with former chairman Nicholas Christopher frequently challenged by party members unwilling to accept his leadership.
