EiE Nigeria to Celebrate 15 Years of Civic Activism with Landmark Lagos Event

Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria, one of Africa’s most influential civic movements, has announced plans to mark 15 years of citizen-led activism with a major event in Lagos on December 10, 2025.

Themed “Footprints & Frontlines,” the celebration highlights EiE’s dual mission: reflecting on its achievements over the past 15 years and energizing ongoing civic engagement. “Footprints” symbolize the movement’s historic campaigns—from policy advocacy and youth mobilization to civic tech initiatives—while “Frontlines” represents the ongoing work of nation-building in classrooms, courtrooms, markets, studios, and digital spaces.

The event will feature a keynote address by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, and will be hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Ayo Mairo-Ese. Attendees will also witness the premiere of a documentary chronicling EiE Nigeria’s journey of mobilizing citizens and holding power accountable.

EiE’s Executive Director, Opeyemi Adamolekun, reflected on the movement’s journey:

“EiE’s story is proof that a small group of committed citizens can reawaken a nation’s conscience. For fifteen years, we have turned civic frustration into civic action—demanding better, insisting on truth, and showing that democracy only works when citizens do.”

Since its founding in 2010, EiE has led landmark initiatives such as the #RSVP (Register, Select, Vote, Protect) campaign, the #OfficeOfTheCitizen platform, and advocacy during the #EndSARS protests, cementing its role as a moral compass in Nigeria’s democratic development.

The event aims to inspire renewed citizen participation and reinforce accountability across Africa’s largest democracy.
