
The Anambra State Executive Council has approved eleven contracts totaling N4.443 billion for infrastructure and development projects across the state.
According to Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the council also approved N87.168 million for an annual asset insurance premium for the new Government House (Light House), Awka, under a five-year agreement.
Key contracts include:
- N171.48 million for modification and completion of the abandoned Court building and upgrades at the Court of Appeal Complex, Awka.
- N330.5 million for rehabilitation of failed portions of Court Road and Obunagu Road in Awka Metropolis.
- N443.4 million for supply and installation of fire-fighting equipment at the College of Nursing Sciences, Umueze-Isuofia, Aguata LGA.
- N297.9 million for additional furniture at the Government House Theatre and Multi-purpose Hall, Light House, Awka.
- N346.87 million for rehabilitation of St. Thomas Aquinas Road, GRA Awka – Min of Lands – Ekwulobia Street – Chief Abose Ejeagwu Lane.
- N85.3 million for a 32kVA solar power system at the Country Club of Solution Fun City, Awka.
- N1.77 billion for construction of the Ikenga-Isuofia-Igboukwu discharge channel.
- N90.45 million for construction of Solution Park & Pay Garage at Ekwulobia, including office building, gatehouse, toilet facility, gazebo, solar panel stands, park benches, and perimeter fencing.
- N476.3 million for electricity extension to Iyiora Anam Community and Zion Ministry Psychiatric and Elderly Hospital, Aguleri.
- N240.25 million for installation of traffic systems: a 3-way light at Igwe Orizu Junction and a 4-way system at Nnewi Roundabout on the Nnewi-Ozubulu Dual Carriageway, including pedestrian lights.
The contracts reflect the state government’s commitment to urban infrastructure, road rehabilitation, power supply, safety, and traffic management, aiming to enhance public services and civic facilities across Anambra.
