Fresh information has surfaced regarding the fate of Rev. Fr. Bobbo, the Kaduna Catholic priest earlier rumoured to have been killed by terrorists. Contrary to the circulating reports, sources close to the family say the abductors are demanding a ransom of N5 million and that the priest may still be alive.
In an update attributed to Barrister Street News (BSN), the platform dismissed claims of the priest’s death, noting that it had spoken directly with members of his family and other trusted insiders.
BSN stated:
“In order to confirm the alleged death of Fr. Bobbo, we made independent contact with his family and reliable insiders for verification.”
According to the platform, the family believes there is strong indication the priest is still alive.
“The family indicates he may still be alive. A direct contact confirmed, in confidence, that the terrorists are demanding N5 million,” the report added.
BSN also revealed that the abductors allowed the priest to speak briefly.
“Rev. Fr. Bobbo reportedly spoke briefly through their phone this morning. The abductors also contacted his elderly father and a fellow Reverend Father, repeating the ransom demand.”
The outlet explained that although the update was given in confidence, it decided to publish the information to counter earlier reports claiming the priest had been killed.
Another source close to the family confirmed the development, saying:
“I have just contacted his family this morning and was told Rev. Fr. Bobbo spoke through the bandits’ phone, and they are still demanding money as of the early hours of this morning.”
Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal was abducted early Monday when suspected terrorists stormed his community and forcefully took him from his residence. A statement issued by Christian Emmanuel, a priest of the Archdiocese of Kaduna, confirmed the attack.
During the raid, the priest’s brother, Anthony Yero, was killed, and several other residents were abducted and taken to unknown locations.
The incident occurred on the same day terrorist groups invaded Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped.
