Filmmaker and curator Femi Odugbemi has described Nigerian films as cultural superpowers, noting their ability to connect with audiences worldwide.
Speaking at an industry panel on the future of Nigerian cinema in the digital age, Odugbemi emphasized that while Nigerian films have achieved global recognition, there is room to strengthen the industry and attract more international collaborations.
He also suggested that the government could support Nigerian films abroad by creating institutions similar to France’s Francais Allianz and Germany’s Goethe Institute, which promote national culture and cinema internationally.
Odugbemi is recognized as one of the filmmakers significantly advancing Nigeria’s cultural presence globally.
