Gospel artist Testimony Jaga has appealed to the Lagos State Government to intervene following the demolition of homes and shops along AIT Road, Kola, and the Powerline axis by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
Jaga described the operation as a “humanitarian disaster”, highlighting that many affected families include elderly people and widows, leaving them homeless and vulnerable. He alleged that land initially claimed for a BRT garage and Mechanic Village is now being used for a mall and private shops, raising suspicions about the government’s changing plans.
He also revealed that landlords contributed ₦25 million through community channels to protect their properties, but the demolitions proceeded regardless, leaving residents feeling cheated and abandoned.
Jaga urged the government to return to the original development plan, emphasizing that it would create jobs and support the local economy instead of displacing vulnerable people. He stressed:
“This situation is bigger than politics. It is about real human lives, real suffering and real families who have been pushed into despair. These people deserve justice and immediate relief.”
