President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s determination to eliminate banditry and terrorism across Northern Nigeria, insisting that no part of the country will be allowed to “bleed in silence.”
Speaking in Kaduna during the 25th Anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), and represented by House Speaker Tajuddeen Abbas, Tinubu acknowledged that his government inherited a complex security crisis but affirmed a firm commitment to restoring peace.
He stressed that the stability of the North is crucial for national progress, warning that leadership loses its relevance when leaders ignore the suffering of their people. Tinubu described the North as facing a severe test, with deteriorating security, eroding communal ethics, and weakened moral structures—but maintained that the region’s failure depends on leaders retreating from responsibility.
Highlighting ongoing interventions, the President pointed to accelerated rail, road, and water transport projects and announced that the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Superhighway would soon be completed and commissioned in Kano. He also commended the proposed ACF Endowment Fund, aimed at supporting girl-child education, youth skills development, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution.
Tinubu urged Northern leaders in politics, traditional institutions, and civil society to recommit to the values of courage, justice, fairness, and collective responsibility, emphasizing that unity remains the region’s strongest weapon.
Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, representing the Senate President, echoed the optimism, saying Northern Nigeria can overcome insecurity through coordinated leadership and leveraging available resources. He highlighted the region’s resilience and history of determination, while acknowledging the seriousness of ongoing security challenges.
