The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man described as a notorious bandit during an operation in Bojinji Village, near Bauchi. Authorities also recovered millions of naira and several rounds of ammunition during the raid.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect relocated to Bauchi from Zamfara, claiming he was fleeing persecution. He settled in the village with his family. While Bauchi frequently hosts people escaping violence from neighboring states, security officials warn that some individuals exploit this movement to hide criminal activities.
The DSS operation, carried out without prior notice, reportedly shocked residents. A security source explained that the team had traced the suspect’s illicit wealth and movements before executing the raid.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was well-known locally for his lavish lifestyle, often seen drinking at Unguwar Yelwan Angas and purchasing alcohol for others. Despite this, no suspicions arose until the DSS intervened.
Authorities are urging residents to report anyone living beyond their means or exhibiting suspicious behavior, emphasizing that such vigilance is crucial in exposing hidden criminal networks.
Further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and whether he had accomplices within the state.
