On Friday, Judge Juan Merchan granted President-elect Donald Trump’s request to file a motion to dismiss the criminal charges against him in New York. The judge also removed the previously scheduled sentencing date for Trump from the court calendar.
This trial pertains to the hush money charges brought against Trump by the state of New York.
Judge Merchan set a deadline of December 2 for Trump’s lawyers to submit their dismissal motion, while New York prosecutor Alvin Bragg has until December 9 to respond.
Additionally, Merchan confirmed the postponement of sentencing, a request made by both Trump’s and Bragg’s legal teams. The sentencing, initially set for November 26, was adjourned following the ruling.
