Pastor Advises Congregants to ‘Get Fortified’ Amid Rising Bandit Attacks

A viral TikTok video shows Pastor Oloruntimilehin Daramola advising his congregation to “get fortified” to protect themselves from Nigeria’s growing wave of attacks. The clips, shared via the account @kingbosoro, feature the preacher in a purple robe and cap, wearing a cross pendant.

In the video, the pastor, who identifies as the Founder of The Omnipotence Mission of God, urges citizens to adopt defensive measures and expressed support for allowing Nigerians to carry firearms for self-protection.

He also made controversial remarks suggesting that if Nigeria’s current structure proves unworkable, the regions could part ways peacefully. Returning to security concerns, he encouraged his followers to take preventive steps before attackers reach homes or places of worship.

“Go and do something that can protect you,” he said, warning that members who ignored his advice would no longer be welcome in his church. He even suggested unconventional tactics, such as deploying bees or charms to repel intruders.

Pastor Daramola cited previous attacks on worship centres, including incidents in Owo, Ondo State, and Kaduna, claiming that relying solely on prayer did not prevent casualties. He invited followers seeking personal guidance to meet him privately for detailed instructions.

The video has sparked debate online, with many questioning its authenticity and the practicality of the pastor’s claims.

His remarks come amid a backdrop of recurring violence against communities and worship centres, including the 2022 St Francis Catholic Church massacre in Owo and the 2025 shooting at Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, as well as recent school abductions in Niger State.
