The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has raised the alarm over Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation, warning that repeated killings and abductions are pushing the country toward chaos.
In a statement on Tuesday, PRP National Chairman Falalu Bello said the nation is steadily losing control over its internal security, noting that ordinary Nigerians’ lives are being wasted daily, just as valuable as those of leaders and their families—many of whom are relocating abroad for safety.
Bello urged the Federal Government to stop denying the crisis, accept responsibility, and take decisive action, warning that time for excuses is over. He stressed that Nigeria cannot continue bleeding while leaders trade blame and engage in public relations stunts.
The PRP also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of anyone, regardless of status, found aiding, abetting, supporting, or providing cover for terror attacks.
“We are profoundly alarmed by the rapidly worsening security situation in Nigeria,” Bello said. “In just a few days, the country has descended further into chaos, marked by mass abductions, targeted killings, and coordinated terror attacks across Kebbi, Zamfara, Kwara, Kano, Bauchi, Yobe, Sokoto, Borno, and Niger states. This is a systematic assault on our nation and the dignity of its people.”
He highlighted recent attacks, including:
- The abduction of over 315 students and teachers from St. Mary’s School in Papiri, Niger State.
- Kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
- Killings of a police officer and a vigilante in Patigi, Kwara State.
- Death of five police officers in Bauchi State.
- The murder of eight members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and abduction of three others in Gwoza, Borno State.
- Death of a policeman in Geidam, Yobe State.
- Murder of four rice farmers in Edu Local Government Area, Kwara State.
Bello warned that the attacks are a direct threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty and collective hope, and stressed that urgent, decisive government action is needed to restore safety and order.
