Banditry: Kwara Government Sets Up Committee to Address Security Breaches

Kwara State Governor, Abdulraham Abdulrazaq, has announced the formation of a cabinet-level security committee to develop short- and long-term strategies aimed at curbing security breaches in the state.

The committee is chaired by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, with Mrs. Olufunke Shittu, Head of Service (HoS), serving as secretary, according to a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, in Ilorin on Tuesday.

Other members include:

  • Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Saliu Tunde Bello
  • Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Abdullahi Bata
  • Senior Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Muhyideen Aliu
  • Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Moshood Gobir
  • One local government chairman from each of the three senatorial districts

The committee is tasked with engaging various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, to design a security strategy tailored to Kwara State that will enhance public safety.

“The committee will submit its report to the Governor within four weeks for further consideration and action. Its recommendations will provide local perspectives to enrich understanding of nationwide security challenges,” the spokesperson added.
