Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) Nigeria has announced that over 600 million businesses worldwide are recognized and verified through its DUNS Number, a global standard for business identity, credibility, and cross-border trade.
Atinuke Williams, Senior Manager of Customer Success & Engagement, explained that the nine-digit DUNS Number is essential for proving legitimacy, accessing financing, and engaging in global supply chains. Over 90% of Fortune 500 companies rely on this identifier.
“The DUNS Number assigns each business a unique global identity, enabling companies to build trust, distinguish themselves, and access international opportunities,” Williams said.
In Nigeria, D&B Nigeria is the sole authorized provider of DUNS Numbers, connecting local companies to a global network of verified enterprises. The identifier now serves as a gateway to a data-driven ecosystem where trust underpins growth and credibility.
Beyond issuing DUNS Numbers, D&B Nigeria offers business intelligence and analytics solutions to help organizations grow securely and manage risk, including:
- DUNS Registered Seal (DRS) – displays the DUNS Registered™ badge for verified businesses.
- Vend-R – a vendor risk management tool for monitoring third-party exposure.
- Finance Analytics – improves lending and investment decisions.
- Risk Analytics – identifies and mitigates threats to businesses.
Williams emphasized that companies with a DUNS Number gain enhanced visibility and credibility, especially when dealing with international partners, reinforcing the importance of verified business identity in today’s global economy.
