A 16-year-old boy and six girls were abducted from Gidan-Bijimi in Kawu ward, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to local sources.
Gidan-Bijimi shares a boundary with Marke village near the Kaduna State border. A resident, Suleiman Shuaibu, confirmed the attack to Daily Trust on Thursday morning.
He said the armed bandits, carrying AK-47 rifles, stormed two houses in the community around 9:47 p.m., firing sporadically and abducting the teenagers, who are aged between 16 and 23.
“The invasion threw the community into chaos. Some vigilantes tried to confront the attackers but were overwhelmed by their superior firepower,” Shuaibu said.
He added that residents fled their homes in fear, and contact has yet to be established with the abductors.
Shuaibu also revealed that one of the victims is his cousin sister, highlighting the personal impact of the attack on the community.
Authorities are yet to comment on the incident.
