Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil a 77-foot-tall bronze statue of Lord Ram at the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt in South Goa district on Thursday. The event marks a major spiritual and cultural milestone in the state, as the statue will be the tallest of Shree Ram in the world.

According to the mutt representatives, PM Modi will arrive at the venue at 3:45 pm, with a special helipad having been constructed within the mutt premises to facilitate his visit. The central committee chairperson of the mutt, Shrinivas Dempo, said the Prime Minister will unveil the statue personally and also visit the temple located within the mutt before addressing a public gathering.

The bronze statue has been sculpted by renowned artist Ram Sutar, who is widely known for designing the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Goa Public Works Department Minister Digambar Kamat highlighted the significance of Sutar’s involvement, noting that the statue represents both artistic excellence and spiritual devotion.

The inauguration will be attended by several dignitaries, including Goa Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, and other state cabinet ministers. The event is part of a series of programmes organized from November 27 to December 7 to commemorate 550 years of the mutt tradition.

The mutt, located in Partagal village of Canacona in South Goa, was established 370 years ago and has long served as a spiritual and cultural centre for the region. For the occasion, the premises have been fully refurbished and modernized to host thousands of devotees and visitors. Officials expect between 7,000 and 10,000 people to visit the mutt daily during the celebrations.

The unveiling of the 77-foot statue of Lord Ram is being viewed as a landmark event for both spiritual heritage and tourism in Goa, highlighting the continued importance of the mutt as a center for cultural preservation and devotion.

The celebrations, spanning over ten days, will feature various religious, cultural, and community activities, reinforcing the mutt’s historical significance and its role in promoting spiritual learning and devotion in the region.
