EFCC Arraigns Female Archbishop Oyeghe in Delta for Naira Abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday arraigned Archbishop Angel Oyeghe, founder of Faith Healing Ministry, before Justice Hyeladzira Ajiya Ngangjiwa at the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State.

Oyeghe is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and abuse of the Nigerian currency, according to the EFCC’s Benin Zonal Directorate.

Her arraignment comes after her arrest on November 18, 2025, following a viral video showing individuals allegedly under her supervision spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church programme—an act which violates Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007. The Commission also hinted at suspected money-laundering activities linked to the incident.

The EFCC said Archbishop Oyeghe had already made “useful statements” during interrogation, adding that she would be prosecuted in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

In its earlier statement announcing her arrest, the agency described her as a “self-acclaimed Archbishop,” noting that the video evidence formed a major basis for the charges now brought against her.

The EFCC’s action forms part of a wider crackdown on financial crimes and naira misuse involving influential individuals across the country.
