Police Confirm Abduction of 10 Farmers in Niger State Communities Days After School Kidnapping

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of 10 farmers in Shiroro Local Government Area, deepening fears over rising insecurity in the region.

Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun said the victims were seized on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, around 8pm, when suspected armed men invaded Angwan-Kawo and Kuchipa villages.

“Effort is being made to rescue the victims,” Abiodun stated, adding that security agencies have intensified operations in the area.

The latest incident comes barely a week after gunmen abducted over 300 students and teachers from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri — one of the largest school kidnappings in the state in recent years.

Residents say the repeated attacks reflect a worsening security situation across Shiroro and neighbouring communities, where bandit activities have continued despite military operations.
