Katy Perry is keeping her space dreams alive — and she’s bringing her fans along for the ride.
At the kickoff show of her Lifetimes Tour Wednesday night (April 23) at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Perry spotted two fans dressed in blue NASA flight suits in the crowd and invited them up on stage.
In a viral clip shared on X, the pop star gasps, “You guys look so good! You just got back from space!” She then tells the crowd,
“I want these gentlemen to come on stage, because they are dressed like my most current timeline.”
The moment ended with Perry snapping a celebratory selfie alongside her “astronaut” fans as the audience cheered.
A Space-Themed Spectacle
The concert marked Perry’s first full performance since returning from her Blue Origin spaceflight earlier this month — and the space influence was unmistakable.
Throughout the night, Perry donned multiple galactic-themed outfits and even performed while suspended in midair, delivering high-energy renditions of hits like “Dark Horse,” “E.T.” and “Roar.”
The Lifetimes Tour supports her latest album, 143, released in 2024, but Perry made sure to celebrate her greatest Billboard Hot 100 hits too.
Fresh Off a Real Space Adventure
Perry recently joined Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, and other notable figures on Blue Origin’s historic all-women spaceflight on April 14. During the 11-minute journey, Perry sang part of Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” and filmed a teaser for her tour’s setlist while floating in zero gravity.
After landing, she kissed the ground and described the experience as “the highest high.”
“This whole journey is not just about going to space. It’s the training, the team — the whole thing. I couldn’t recommend this experience more,” Perry told reporters.
“It’s about making space for future women, taking up space, belonging, and appreciating our wonderful world. It’s all for the benefit of Earth.”
Critics Weigh In
Despite Perry’s empowering message, the Blue Origin trip sparked backlash from stars like Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, and Olivia Munn, who criticized the mission as wasteful and tone-deaf amid global crises.
Perry hasn’t directly addressed the criticism — but during her show Wednesday night, she seemingly offered a pointed response, asking the crowd:
“Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?”
