Brittany Snow Remains Close with Ashanti 19 Years After John Tucker Must Die: ‘Just Adore Her’

November 27, 2025 – Nearly two decades after the release of the 2006 high school comedy John Tucker Must Die, Brittany Snow revealed that she still keeps in touch with her former co-star Ashanti. Speaking on the Las Culturistas podcast, Snow reflected fondly on her friendship with Ashanti, saying,

“I love Ashanti. Her laugh is exactly the same. It’s so, like, perfect, like a little cute cackle. And I just adore her.”

Snow, 39, portrayed Kate Spencer, the new girl at school who teams up with two other girls to take down John Tucker, played by Jesse Metcalfe, 46. Ashanti, 45, played the role of Heather, one of Tucker’s three girlfriends, and was “just starting to date Nelly” at the time, a cultural phenomenon that Snow fondly recalled during the podcast.

Memories from the Set

Snow shared memories of filming the movie, highlighting the fun and excitement on set:

“We were at dinner one time, and I could barely keep it together. It was a really great time.”

She also reminisced on a recent appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, saying that while she and Ashanti are still in touch, she wishes they were closer. Snow recalled the starstruck moment when Nelly joined them for dinner:

“I was so starstruck by Ashanti…Nelly came to dinner with us and he was wearing a band-aid, and I was just like [screams]…this is sooo 2000s.”

Sequel Rumors for John Tucker Must Die

Excitement around the cult-favorite film continues, with Ashanti hinting at the possibility of a follow-up. Speaking with PEOPLE in March about her new movie No Address, Ashanti revealed she’s been in contact with co-star Arielle Kebbel, 40, about a potential sequel:

“Arielle, she texts me! We’ve been going back and forth a little bit. She told me that she had the idea and I was like, ‘Listen, if we can get it together, I’m down.’ ”

Rumors about a sequel gained traction in 2024 during a panel with Metcalfe, Sofia Bush, and Kebbel at Epic Con Chicago. Metcalfe confirmed he had “heard rumors of this script — there’s a script,” adding that he “definitely would love to be a part of it.” Kebbel echoed the sentiment in October 2025, noting that “there’s a lot of talk about the sequel” and the team is “continuing to do our best to push forward on that.”

Brittany Snow’s Enduring Friendship

Despite nearly 20 years passing, Snow’s admiration for Ashanti remains strong. Their bond, formed during filming, continues to thrive through texts and occasional meetups, proving that some Hollywood friendships truly withstand the test of time.

Fans of the original film are eagerly awaiting news of a potential sequel, and the enduring camaraderie between Snow, Ashanti, and other cast members keeps the possibility alive.
