November 27, 2025 – New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is back in the hospital following a shooting in New York City earlier this month that left a bullet lodged in his lung. The 29-year-old NFL star has already undergone multiple surgeries and is providing updates on his recovery through social media.

Boyd Shares Health Update

Boyd took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday, November 26, to update fans on his condition:

“Please bare with me, I haven’t been in communication much… I was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues… I love and appreciate every one of y’all dearly who has prayed/reached out even if I can’t get back to you! Head HIGH, God is not through with me yet!”

He added green heart emojis, signaling gratitude and hope for a full recovery.

The Shooting Incident

The incident occurred on November 16, 2025, around 2 a.m. at Sei Less, an Asian fusion restaurant on West 38th Street in New York City. Boyd was reportedly there with two teammates when the shooting took place. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, whose identity remains unknown, and authorities are investigating the incident.

While the motive is still unclear, police believe the altercation may have stemmed from an attempted robbery of Boyd’s necklace, according to ABC 7 NY.

Previous Hospitalization and Recovery

Boyd was first hospitalized on November 17 after the bullet passed through his abdomen and lodged in his right lung. Following the surgery, he shared a photo on Instagram from his hospital bed, writing:

“God is real, God is powerful! I’m sorry I have no words at the moment… Just grateful! I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone!”

Despite the severity of the incident, Boyd appeared in good spirits, expressing gratitude for the support he received from fans and teammates.

Support from Jets and Teammates

Jets Coach Aaron Glenn expressed concern for Boyd and his family following the shooting:

“Once I heard about the situation, the first thing I thought about was he just had a kid. I’m thinking about his wife. I’m thinking about his kid. I want to make sure that he’s okay. That’s the only thing that really went through my mind. And anybody else that was involved, make sure those guys are okay.”

Boyd’s teammates and the NFL community have rallied around him, offering support during his ongoing recovery.

Looking Ahead

As investigations continue and Boyd undergoes further treatment, fans and the Jets organization remain hopeful for his full recovery. The cornerback’s resilience and gratitude underscore his determination to overcome the traumatic incident and return to the field.
