FCTA Begins Enforcement on 1,095 Properties Over Unpaid Ground Rent and Fees

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced enforcement actions on 1,095 property titles in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse districts due to non-payment of ground rent, Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills, penalty/violation fees, and land use conversion fees.

The FCTA issued multiple public notices between May and November 2025, warning property owners to settle their financial obligations. Despite this, defaulters failed to comply.

According to the FCTA spokesperson, Nyesom Wike, the enforcement is authorized under Section 28, Subsections 5(a) and (b) of the Land Use Act, and the process targets:

  • 835 properties for defaulting on ground rent.
  • 260 properties for defaulting on violation fees and land use conversion fees.

The action follows the expiration of the final 14-day grace period on November 25, 2025. The FCTA emphasizes that enforcement is necessary to uphold compliance with property regulations in the Federal Capital City.
