Oyo: Fire Destroys Properties Worth Millions in Ibadan and Kishi

Properties valued at millions of naira were destroyed after fire ravaged two residential buildings in Ibadan and Kishi town on Wednesday night.

The first fire broke out at 17 Prestige Estate, Joop Bad Hour Crescent, Onírẹlẹ, Ibadan, engulfing the living room of a four-bedroom duplex. While no lives were lost, the blaze caused significant property damage.

The second incident occurred at 1 Alhaji Rosco Street, Ajangba Area, Kishi town, where the generator room of another four-bedroom residential building was affected. Again, no casualties were reported, but properties worth millions of naira were damaged.

Confirming the incidents on Friday, Oyo State Fire Service Chairman, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, said the fire service acted swiftly to prevent the flames from spreading further.

He stated, “Upon arrival in Ibadan, the living room of the duplex was engulfed. Our officers promptly contained the fire, preventing further damage. No casualty was recorded, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.”

Regarding the Kishi incident, Akinwande added, “The generator room of the building was on fire. Our team acted quickly to control the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the main building. The fire was completely extinguished in no time.”
