Over N4bn Invested in Lagos Port Digital Truck Management System

Trucks Transit Parks (TTP) Limited has invested more than N4 billion in the electronic truck call-up system, Ètò, since its introduction in February 2021, Managing Director Jama Onwubuariri disclosed in Lagos.

The system, introduced by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), manages truck movements at Lagos Port Complex and Tin-Can Island Port, reducing congestion, streamlining port access, and improving operational efficiency.

“We have invested up to N4.2 billion across board since inception, including the development of a tamper-proof electronic tagging (eTag) system and the E-Call-Up Interchange Transaction Number (EITN) to prevent truck identity duplication and terminal order fraud,” Onwubuariri said.

The system has handled 3.38 million trucks over the last 57 months. Challenges such as plate number duplication and stalling along port access roads are being addressed through the eTag and digital TDO verification systems, awaiting regulatory approval.

Lagos State Commissioner of Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, emphasized that digital innovation and partnerships are key to transforming port logistics from gridlock into economic growth opportunities.

AMATO Chairman Chief Remi Ogungbemi and NPCC Vice Chairman Jean Anishere (SAN) praised the system, stressing its transformative impact and calling for its sustainability to maintain port competitiveness.
