Palestinians in West Bank Face Lockdowns Amid Intensified Israeli Raids

Occupied West Bank, November 28, 2025 – Entire Palestinian communities in the northern West Bank are being forced into lockdown as Israeli military operations escalate, a child rights organization warns. Families are sheltering at home amid raids that have injured dozens and resulted in mass arrests.

Save the Children reported that the lockdowns are preventing children from attending school, threatening family incomes, and increasing the risk of physical violence and detention by Israeli forces.

Israeli troops have laid siege to large portions of the Tubas governorate and carried out raids in cities including Jenin. Local reports indicate that dozens have been injured and more than 160 Palestinians detained since the operations began. While Israel asserts the raids target armed Palestinian groups, residents and rights organizations accuse the military of indiscriminate attacks on civilians, blocking journalists and ambulances, and damaging infrastructure.

A widely circulated video from Jenin shows Israeli forces killing two unarmed Palestinians attempting to surrender, drawing international condemnation.

Systematic Assault on Northern West Bank

Humanitarian groups say the northern West Bank has been particularly affected by ongoing Israeli operations, with tens of thousands displaced from refugee camps since January and prevented from returning. Home demolitions and forced displacement campaigns have heightened fears of collective punishment.

Ameer, a representative of a Save the Children partner in the West Bank, described the raids in Tubas as “a systematic assault and continuation of Israel’s collective punishment policy,” emphasizing the disruption to children’s education and access to healthcare.

Continued Strikes on Gaza

Despite a U.S.-brokered truce with Hamas in October, Israeli attacks continue in Gaza. Recent strikes in Khan Younis, Rafah, and Bani Suheila have killed at least one Palestinian, while the enclave has recorded 347 deaths since the truce began.

Aid deliveries to Gaza remain severely restricted. According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, only 9,930 of the nearly 28,000 requested aid trucks have been allowed entry, amounting to just 35 percent. Officials warn that the humanitarian situation is deteriorating rapidly, with infrastructure and essential services severely damaged.
