History-Sheeter Beaten to Death in MP’s Sagar; Viral Video Sparks Outrage

Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, November 28, 2025 — A 39-year-old history-sheeter, Sushil Chaube, was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in Sagar district, with a video of the assault going viral on social media on Friday.

The incident occurred on the night of November 25 in the Lajpatpur area, according to Kotwali SHO Manish Singal. Chaube was rushed to a hospital on November 26, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day. His family reported the matter to the police after his death.

The viral video shows around 15 men attacking Chaube with sticks, while others can be heard instructing the attackers to break his legs and forcibly drag him. Chaube’s elder brother, Sudhir Chaube, has named several accused and demanded strict action against them.

Authorities said Chaube was a monitored offender, with around 30 cases against him at Kotwali and Gopalganj police stations, including robbery and assault. SHO Singal noted that doctors observed only a single injury on Chaube’s hand, which alone could not have caused his death. Investigators are awaiting the post-mortem report before registering an FIR. Several individuals identified by the deceased’s family have been taken for questioning.

The case has sparked widespread outrage, raising questions about mob justice and law enforcement vigilance in the district.
