NBA Playoffs 2025: Jayson Tatum Leads Boston Celtics Past Orlando Magic for 3-1 Series Lead

The Boston Celtics moved one step closer to advancing in the NBA Playoffs 2025, holding off a late rally by the Orlando Magic to secure a 107-98 victory in Game 4 and take a commanding 3-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference first round.

Six-time NBA All-Star Jayson Tatum delivered a masterful performance, scoring 37 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Tatum was perfect from the free-throw line, hitting all 14 of his attempts, including four clutch shots in the final minute to seal the win at Kia Center.

Celtics Overcome Late Magic Push

The Orlando Magic fought hard to level the game at 91-91 early in the fourth quarter, but the defending champions responded immediately. Boston went on a decisive 10-1 run, showing their playoff experience and championship pedigree to regain full control of the contest.

The Celtics, the second seed in the East, are now just one win away from moving on to the next round of the NBA playoffs.

Eastern Conference Playoff Picture Tightens

Elsewhere in the East:

  • The New York Knicks edged out the Detroit Pistons 94-93, despite a controversial non-call on Tim Hardaway Jr.’s missed game-winner after contact from Josh Hart.

  • The Indiana Pacers dominated the Milwaukee Bucks 129-103. The Bucks’ playoff hopes were further dampened by a non-contact injury to star point guard Damian Lillard, who exited in the first quarter and is set for an MRI on Monday.

Both the Knicks and Pacers, like the Celtics, now hold 3-1 series leads.

Western Conference Update: Lakers Fall to Timberwolves

In the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Lakers suffered another heartbreaking loss, falling 116-113 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite Luka Doncic’s 38 points and LeBron James’ 27-point effort, the Lakers find themselves in a 3-1 hole heading into a must-win Game 5 on Wednesday.
