FCT Police Launch Crackdown on ‘One Chance’ Criminals

The FCT Police Command has launched an intensive effort to tackle the growing menace of ‘one chance’ criminals and car thieves wreaking havoc in the nation’s capital.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh announced that additional personnel and equipment will be deployed to conduct patrols, stop-and-search operations, and surveillance across the territory to curb the alarming rise in these crimes.

The initiative is designed to address the increasing incidents of ‘one chance’ robberies and car thefts. The police will also target vehicles with improper registration, including those without plates, with only one plate, or with defaced plates.

Additionally, the FCT Police will enforce regulations on covered number plates and tinted windows.

“While these operations may cause some inconvenience, they reflect our firm commitment to the safety of FCT residents and to disrupting criminal activities that target motorists and passengers,” Adeh stated.

Since the rollout of these measures, several stolen vehicles have been recovered, and ‘one chance’ criminals have been apprehended.

The Police Command appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation and advises vehicle owners to ensure full compliance with traffic regulations. The statement concluded by urging residents to report any suspicious activities and work with the police to ensure a safer environment. “Your safety remains our top priority,” it emphasized.
