Popular Nigerian musician and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has had his Instagram and Facebook accounts suspended by Meta, less than a week after releasing his new single, “Open Letter to Donald Trump.”
The song, released on TikTok on November 29, 2025 under his label, Lakreem Entertainment, is both an appeal to the U.S. President and a pointed critique of Nigeria’s political elite. Abdulkareem accuses Nigerian leaders of being “criminals of all shades and hues” who enrich themselves while citizens suffer amid widespread insecurity, including kidnappings, killings, and terrorism.
In the track, he sings that Nigerian leaders “dem dey fear Donald Trump,” positioning the song as an effort to attract global attention to the country’s deepening crises.
This is not Abdulkareem’s first time using music to challenge authority. In April 2025, he released “Tell Your Papa,” calling on Seyi Tinubu to convey Nigerians’ struggles to his father, President Bola Tinubu. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) subsequently banned the song for allegedly violating the country’s Broadcasting Code.
Abdulkareem first courted controversy in 2004 when then-President Olusegun Obasanjo banned his hit song “Jaga Jaga,” which later became an underground anthem.
