Gotham Nomination Highlights Lawrence’s Talent
Lawrence earned her nod for Outstanding Lead Performance for her role in Lynne Ramsay’s “Die My Love”, joining fellow nominees Ethan Hawke, Jessie Buckley, Tessa Thompson, Rose Byrne, and Josh O’Connor. While “One Battle After Another” led the ceremony with six nominations, Lawrence’s performance has been widely praised for its depth and emotional resonance.
Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, described the nominees as representing “an extraordinary year of cinematic achievement — one defined by bold, original storytelling, festival breakouts, and filmmakers whose independent vision extends across studios and streamers.”
Drawing on Personal Experience for a Powerful Role
In “Die My Love,” Lawrence portrays a mother grappling with postpartum depression and the early challenges of motherhood, a role she connected with deeply as a mom of two.
“I didn’t really end up having really bad postpartum [anxiety] until my second [baby],” Lawrence told PEOPLE in November. “I think that just added another layer… Just having that information about what a tiny person needs was helpful.”
Lawrence shares her 3-year-old son Cy and a 9-month-old baby boy with husband Cooke Maroney.
Opening Up About Body Image and Motherhood
The actress has also spoken candidly about body changes after pregnancy, particularly following her second child. “Everything bounced back, pretty much, after the first one… Second one, nothing bounced back,” she revealed to The New Yorker.
Despite rumors, Lawrence confirmed she has not had fillers or a facelift, though she does occasionally get Botox and has considered future cosmetic options. She added that if her life weren’t in the public eye, she likely wouldn’t feel pressured to schedule such appointments.
Lawrence continues to balance parenthood, career, and high-profile roles, and her Gotham Awards appearance showcased both her fashion-forward style and her ongoing recognition as one of Hollywood’s leading talents.
