Why Olivia Munn Stopped Post-Mastectomy Scar Treatment After Her Skims Campaign

Olivia Munn made a powerful decision to stop her post-mastectomy scar treatment after receiving an outpouring of love and support following her appearance in the Skims campaign. The 44-year-old actress opened up about her journey during the Women’s Cancer Research Fund’s 2025 An Unforgettable Evening, where she shared how the positive response from fans and women facing similar challenges encouraged her to embrace her scars.

Olivia Munn’s Bold Decision to Stop Scar Treatment

“I was scheduled for all my laser appointments, with treatments lined up for the entire next year,” Munn revealed. “But after the overwhelming support from the Skims campaign, I canceled all of them.” She explained that the emotional connection with her audience made her feel proud of her scars, something she had previously felt compelled to hide. “I want to embrace my battle with breast cancer and the strength these scars represent,” Munn said.

Empowerment Through Skims and Breast Cancer Advocacy

In October 2024, Munn featured in Kim Kardashian’s Skims campaign, modeling the brand’s iconic shapewear, including the Ultimate Nipple Bra and the Ultimate Teardrop Push-Up Bra. During the shoot, Munn confidently revealed one of her mastectomy scars, inspiring women around the world with her bravery.

“It’s an honor to partner with Skims and Susan G. Komen, especially because this cause is deeply personal to me,” Munn shared in a press release. The campaign also helped raise awareness for breast cancer, with Skims donating a portion of sales to the charity.

From Insecurity to Confidence: Munn’s Journey

Munn, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023 and underwent a double mastectomy, candidly admitted her initial struggles with body insecurities. Before revealing her health journey to the public, Munn expressed feeling self-conscious about the physical changes from surgery, such as divots and dents near her lymph nodes. But during the Skims photoshoot, she realized it was time to let go of those insecurities. “I decided I was done being insecure about my mastectomy scars,” she shared on Instagram.

She hopes her story inspires other women who have undergone similar procedures to embrace their scars with pride. “Every mark life has left behind on my body is proof of how hard I fought,” Munn wrote, adding that she wanted her photos to offer love and encouragement to others.

A Personal Mission to Inspire Confidence in Others

Munn’s advocacy for breast cancer awareness goes beyond her own experience. Through her partnership with Skims and Susan G. Komen, she aims to amplify the conversation surrounding breast cancer survivors and promote confidence and empowerment for women dealing with similar challenges.

Olivia Munn’s journey—from undergoing a double mastectomy to embracing her scars—has become a symbol of strength, resilience, and empowerment for countless women. As she continues to share her story, Munn hopes to inspire others to face their own battles with confidence and pride.
