Bengaluru: In a show of political camaraderie, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s Sadashivanagar residence on Tuesday for breakfast, where his favourite nati koli saaru (country chicken curry) was reportedly on the menu. Steaming idlis, nati koli fry, vada, and pongal were also served.
The breakfast comes just days after the two leaders shared a meal amid speculation over a potential leadership change in the Karnataka Congress. Siddaramaiah noted the difference between the two breakfasts, saying, “At his house it was non-veg, while at my house it was veg. I had not prepared non-veg. I told DK to get chicken from the village as you won’t get the original in Bengaluru.”
Shivakumar emphasized the gesture as an effort to show unity, stating, “Today, I invited him to my house. He enjoyed the breakfast, which had his Mysuru taste.”
Addressing the media, both leaders projected a united front amid circulating rumors of a “rotational CM” arrangement. Siddaramaiah reiterated that he and Shivakumar would follow the directions of the Congress high command if called to Delhi, adding, “We are always united, we are brothers and working together.”
Speculation over the leadership arrangement has intensified since Siddaramaiah completed two and a half years as CM on November 20, 2025, with Shivakumar serving as his deputy since the Congress came to power in 2023.
